The Wedding Party
Tim and Lucy are so very gratified to present our dazzling wedding party.
Maid of Honor, Laura Eileen Byrne was Lucy's roommate for most of college, where she studied Molecular Biology and Comparative Literature. She is currently in Medical School at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a loyal, compassionate, and extremely helpful friend. She planned Lucy's entire undergraduate course schedule, making sure that all of the requirements were covered, and building in time for the pursuit of side interests like Spanish and Dance. Laura's fiance, Andrew most helpfully brought her to the Bay Area, where our little bunch of 'fords enjoyed exploring Monterey, the Slough, Point Reyes, the City and other scenic points. Laura is deeply intelligent and wise.
Best Man, Matthew Ambrogi is Tim's younger (but taller!) brother. He is perhaps the most immediately and universally amiable person you are likely to meet. Though he grew up all over the world, Matt seems to be a true Californian, at heart. As such, he did not abandon the West Coast with the rest of us and still lives in Albany, just north of Berkeley. Matt's great passion for food and drink led him to culinary school. He is the generous sort of future-brother-in-law who will cater a full dinner for a 35-person dinner party for ones birthday. His appreciation of games is no less avid thanhis brothers', as evidenced by his many untoppled high scores. He also loves reading and film.
Best Man, Michael Ambrogi is Tim's older brother. His wit and charm are always evident. Mike is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design has worked at several Bay Area game studios, and is now a co-founder of Final Form Games. He is the dependable sort of future-brother-in-law who one can count on to pick one up from a piano concert and deliver one home in time to finish a paper that has been the object of shameful procrastination. He seemed to be the pater familias of our little Berkeley clan. Mike's passions are food, film, running, and games. He is also a clever and compelling conversationalist.
Bridesmaid, Mary Kassab went high school with Lucy. They were in the same home room, and they took AP biology together under the indomitable Katie Shepherd. Mary is a graduate of Swarthmore College, where she studied Biology and Religion. She did research on religion and botany at Philadelphia's Bartram Gardens. She is a great grower of plants and trees and comes from a family of nature lovers. Mary seems to know the secret of inner peace; she is always warm and understanding. She is a truly gifted baker, as the wedding cakes will attest. She is the perfect person with whom to share a cup of tea.
Groomsman, James Saxon is Lucy's brother. He is admirably ambitious and passionate about life. He will graduate in a few weeks from Swarthmore College, where he has studied Physics and Political Theory. Jamie likes to understand how things work, and by things, I mean Societies and Universes. His wanderlust and sense of adventure seem to allow that not everything is knowable, but his passion for study contends that that is no reason not to try. Jamie's enthusiasm for life is infectious. He loves reading, travel, the Romance Languages, rock climbing, and worrying his poor mother. He is an accomplished pipe organist.
Bridesmaid, Sarah Eldridge has been a friend since she and Lucy were five. She is completing her PhD. at Princeton as a Germanist. She was a high jumper and German major at the University of Chicago. Even as a child, Sarah was always making things-- productive, creative, and a great reader. She and Lucy studied ballet together for many years under the exacting but formative direction of Lori Ardis. Sarah's dancing was always informed by her superb musicality. She enjoys singing and the piano. Sarah and Lucy made an excellent duo in childhood choruses, where Sarah easily sightread the parts, and Lucy would listen to her and belt them at enormous volume for the rest of the section to learn. Sarah makes a lovely walking companion.
Groomsman, Halsted Larson met Tim when they studied together at Haverford College. Hal studied Religion there. He also holds a Masters in Education from Stanford University. After graduating from Stanford, Hal worked at Leapfrog, and educational game company. Hal is patient and thoughtful. He has also worked as a chaplain, and offers the same thoughtful council to his friends. Hal is also a founder of Final Form Games, where he focuses on game design, and prototyping. Hal also grew up Quaker, so he is a good person to ask if you have questions about the Ceremony. Hal has a profound sense of narrative and is a great storyteller.
Bridesmaid, Clara Sheets studied Economics and Math at Haverford College. She lives in New York, where she works at the Federal Reserve. She will attend Columbia Business School in the Fall. She and Lucy were on the same Freshman hall, and were sometimes mistaken for sisters, twins, or the same person, at the small college. Lucy received many misplaced compliments on Clara's starring theatrical performance in a play directed by Laura Byrne. Clara recieved updates from a collaborator on Lucy's French project. Luckily, as good friends, we were able to pass these messages on to each other. Clara was also the Captain of the Women's Cross Country Team. Clara is sophisticated and fun-loving. She studied in Vienna, and loves German and Music. Clara is a very flattering person to be mistaken for all around.
Tim's Parents, Robert and Kathleen Ambrogi were married in 1976 and are both educators and have pursued their careers all over the world. They were in the Peace Corps together in Cameroun. Rob has served as an overseeing administrator at schools in Liberia, Portugal, Pakistan, and South Africa. Rob is currently working for International School Services. Kathi has taught art and language arts. She is now writing full time, and works coordinating volunteers at the American Red Cross.
Lucy's Parents, James J. and Berenice Saxon were married in 1980. Jim is a professor of Psychology at Cheyney University, and a practicing psychologist. Berenice works in research administration at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, helping to procure grants for medical research. She is an avid reader. They enjoy bocce, gardening, and are active in Swarthmore Monthly Meeting.
